At the Susquehannock School District School Board meeting in January, this testimony by an Indigenous community member Katy Isennock, who is an alumni and whose children attend school there, illustrates our need for state legislation to stop the use of Native peoples for racist sports mascots.
Last fall, the Susquehannock School District's new School Board ran on the issue of bringing back the use of the Indian head logo for their Warriors mascot and won a majority. Two years ago CNA had supported the district in ending the use of the Indian head logo. At that time, new imagery created by the students (seen on the front of the podium in the photo below) was used for the Warriors that did not appropriate Native American culture and imagery.
