Dear Coalition,
Land Acknowledgments are a good first step for non-Native people who don't even realize they reside on the unceded land of Indigenous Peoples. This video is an example of a performative land acknowledgment that doesn't include actions.
The first 3:39 minutes of this video gives you an Indigenous perspective by Corrina Gould. She is the Co-founder and Lead Organizer of Sogore Te Land Trust and Tribal Spokesperson for the Confederated Villages of Lisjan. She is speaking at a conference on Rematriation: Indigenous Women's Work to Recover, Remember and Heal.
SOME ACTIONS YOU MIGHT TAKE:
Give to the Native American College Fund
Give to Native charity organizations like Native Hope, or Society of Native Nations
The National Native American Boarding School Healing Coalition
Help educate your community by sharing our film Native Women and Allies Speak: What You Weren't Taught in School with follow up Q & A with members of our Coalition. Schedule an event here.
