The powerful story of one of the members of our Coalition of Natives and Allies, Kelley Bashew, is detailed in this issue of The Philadelphia Inquirer, published today. Kelley is Dakota Sioux
and was adopted by a White family at 3 months.
We are so honored that she is part of our coalition, bringing her courage, resilience and strength to all the work we do. She has generously added her story of adoption
and reuniting with her birth family to our presentations.
Her story has helped people understand how this history we share with Native American peoples is still very current in our society. The effects of the US policies are alive
and well in 2021.
We acknowledge Pennsylvania exists on the tribal lands of the Delaware, Erie, Haudenosaunee, Lenape, Munsee, Shawnee, and Susquehannock.
